Belle Epoque

Taking a seat at one of the dinky tables in this Stoke Newington gem is the next-best thing to being in Paris itself. Patissier and owner Eric Rousseau handcrafts beautiful miniature tartes au citron, macaroons, cakes, croissants and breads, alongside walls of wonderfully continental preserves and condiments. The newly opened garden is a must-visit for catching the last rays of Autumnal sun.

Nordic Bakery

A slice of Scandi heaven. Cinnamon buns, dark rye bread and excellent coffee are the winners at this Soho output, which has a simple, stripped back design that's the perfect foil to the busyness of nearby Golden Square.

St John Bakery

The St John group's fabled doughnuts – stuffed with homemade, seasonal jams or a creme patissiere and chantilly cream custard mixture – keep the crowds queuing every weekend at their Druid Street market stall. Fancy a sit down space? Their Maltby Street Market bakery room opens every weekend, and deals in breads, fresh madelaines, and, naturally, those sweet, doughy delights.

La Patisserie Des Reves

'The Patisserie Of Dreams' is every inch as magical as it's name suggests. Re-imagings of the classics (think an eclair robed in a cylinder of chocolate with a smooth, praline centre) are innovative, Wily Wonka style fun. Visit for a proper sweet-toothed experience.
